Design System • UX + Web Design
Overview
Role | Art Director
Founded in 1913, ADL is the leading anti-hate organization in the world. It was created in response to an escalating climate of antisemitism and bigotry in the U.S.

We were tasked to tackle the redesign of their extremely robust site to make sure users could get the most out of the wide research and data sets they have to help support such an important cause. Through a multitude of visual explorations, we aligned on something that felt both familiar to their existing demographic and kept with the organization's heritage, while also pushing a more modern and clear look and feel. With this solid visual system defined we then created an incredibly expansive component based design to use throughout their site and many pages that would give them everything they needed to tell their incredibly important message.
Modular Design System
Given the large number of pages and sub-centers on the ADL website, it was essential that we create a clear and defined design system of components that could be used by their team to create any content, both on existing pages and for future use cases.
Interactive Data Visualizations
One of the more specific and larger focuses of the project was a redesign of their 'H.E.A.T Map' (Hate, Extremism, Antisemitism, Terrorism). This robust set of data acquired by ADL had the ability to be an extremely useful tool for users and journalists. Our redesign of the tool was focused on brining in and engaging a new set of users while also prioritizing the functionality on mobile.
